A Grant to Further Our Work With Students

Big News!

Buckeye Community School has been awarded a Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant for the 2022-2023 School Year. This grant, from the Department of Education, will help us serve more students and serve those students more effectively.

Buckeye Community School (BCS) is a tuition-free public school that works with at-risk students, empowering them to reach their goal of a high school diploma. This work is vital to the health of our community, and we can’t do it without partnerships and grants like this one.

We are excited to be able to serve students in several dedicated ways through this grant.

  • Providing support in both Math and ELA so that students can get the support they need to have success.

  • Offering Job readiness skills and credentials in construction, automotive, STNA, and Rise Up.

  • Increasing credit recovery opportunities and support.

  • Exciting opportunities for Esports including participating in tournaments across Ohio.

  • Extending family engagement opportunities.

Through this grant, BCS has hired dedicated staff to manage the program. We will provide wraparound services as well as dinner to students and program staff four days a week from 3:00 - 6:00pm M -TH. 

This program is not just about providing tutoring and classes. It is an opportunity for students to reach their goals and to do so in a community of other students and dedicated staff members. Starting in mid-October and continuing May of 2023, we look forward to serving students through this exciting opportunity. will serve a minimum of 30 students through this exciting opportunity.
