Welcome, students

Students are at the center of everything we do at Buckeye Community School - we are glad you are here!

Our goal is to work in partnership with you to earn your diploma and graduate from high school. There are many paths to get there - we will work together to find your path.

Where am I going?

When you enroll at BCS, you will fill out the Career Goals form so we can understand who YOU are, what you want to accomplish, and where you want to go after high school. It’s OK if you don’t know the answers — we’ll figure it out together. Your first class at BCS will be Goal Setting, because it’s not enough to fill out a form, we will partner with you to turn your ideas into goals and plans.

How do I get there?

You will have a team of people to call on - the most wonderful of these are our Student Engagement Specialists who have seen and heard it all and come up with the most amazing ideas for helping you take the next step. You also have dedicated teachers, tutors, psychologists, and specialists to support you on your journey. You will meet with your lead instructor every week, a person who knows you and your plans, to review your progress and keep you on track.

What are my choices?

You have so many choices! Our most common learning model is for students to take one class for 6 weeks and earn the entire credit - focus on one subject at a time and knock it out! You can take more than one class at a time, or you can take longer than 6 weeks - flexibility is the theme here. We also stay open late and let you choose when to work at school and when to work elsewhere.

You can also choose dual-enrollment, where you take classes that meet high school requirements and earn free college credit at the same time. Or you can choose a Career Tech pathway like Automotive, Business Management, or Cyber-security and get an early start on certifications for a potential career. If you already work at a job, you can find out about earning work-based credits through the Career-Based Intervention (CBI) program. Any way you can earn credits in Ohio, we can help you do it!

Why BCS?

As one BCS student said, “Because I can be me.” It’s as simple as that.
