Emily Haas
Meet the next member of the Buckeye Community School Leadership Team! We’re proud to introduce Emily Haas, Principal at BCS Marion. With 12 years of experience in education—10 as an Intervention Specialist and 2 in administration—Emily is known for leading with vision, compassion, and a strong belief in the power of relationships. She strives to create an environment where students feel seen, staff feel supported, and families feel connected. A proud Pleasant alum, Emily’s leadership style is student-centered and collaborative, built on equity and a deep commitment to helping every learner thrive. She is a hands-on leader who inspires those around her, celebrates growth, and believes in unlocking the potential of each individual. Outside of school, Emily enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends—especially her niece and nephew. Her love of lifelong learning continues to fuel both her personal and professional journey. Steve Hofacker
Introducing the next face of our Leadership Team: Steve Hofacker! With 37 years in education, Steve has built a legacy of dedication, leadership, and heart. From 28 years teaching Math and 34 years coaching football, to serving as a BCS Principal, he has dedicated his life to shaping students both in the classroom and on the field. His journey started in business, but his heart led him back to teaching and coaching — where he found his true purpose. Today, he’s passionate about helping students and families reach their goals and build brighter futures. Outside of school, Steve enjoys gardening, trading stocks, traveling with his wife Jennifer, and cheering on his daughters Catherine and Rachel as they chase their own big dreams.
Matt Schwan
Meet Matt Schwan, a valued member of the Buckeye Community School Leadership Team! With 27 years in education, Matt brings experience, compassion, and a deep commitment to student success. After 26 years in the classroom, he now leads with the same patience, humor, and dedication that inspired him to teach. Matt believes in helping every student become the best version of themselves and is proud to carry out the mission of BCS each day. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling, sports, woodworking, and spending time with family.
