Self-paced Learning and Accountability

Everyone’s mind thinks at a different pace, and each of us learn differently. It can be frustrating to feel dragged through material too fast to really get it - or conversely, held back from learning more because you breezed through a class. Luckily, there is a different way. At Buckeye Community School (BCS), we work with you to design an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Move at your own pace - we’re here to support you.

Flexibility to accommodate your life

Your class schedule, the amount of work you take on, and when it is due is determined by you and your teacher together. Choose your own pace of learning and the frequency of your exams. You need to stay in contact with your teachers on a consistent basis, and by doing so, you build habits of accountability that will benefit you throughout life.

When you enroll at BCS, you start by filling out a career goals sheet, and then meet with an instructor to craft your ILP. Every step of the way, we are here with you, helping you see the vision of how your future could be after school.

Communication is key to staying accountable

Tell us what works for you and we’ll work to make it happen.

Every quarter, we take the time to review your ILP with you and update it. Together, we look at your current pace of work, what’s coming next, and change things as needed to offer you the right level of support. Study one subject or class at a time, or take several classes a semester. We don’t limit the amount of credits you can earn in a school year. Whether you are interested in vocational training or getting into college, we partner with Washington State Community College to help you earn different certifications.

Forget the past, start fresh now. Our goal is to reduce your stress and find a workable path forward to your success. We can accelerate your progress, and get you back on track. Here’s how to find us:
